Is the app Free?

Yes & No.

The essential features that come with the Standard Plan on the app are completely free.

The Premium Plan which contains features that can help you automate your family management costs $4.99 USD/month or $49.99 USD/Year. 

Why does it cost me to access some features on the app?

Creating, hosting, and managing an app takes a lot of time and effort. It is expensive!

We do not sell ads on our app, we do not sell or mine your data and we protect your privacy.

The subscription that you pay towards accessing the premium feature helps us offset the cost and keep us motivated to provide improve the service that we provide.

How do I know if the app is right for my family? Is there a trial period?

Yes! When you sign up for the app, you are automatically given a 45 days trial period or 450 completed chores, whichever comes first. During this trial period, you have access to all the Premium Features on the app. 

This trial period is to give you a feel for the app and to get an understanding of whether that app will work for you and your family. 

So, what do I get for free? What is part of the Standard Plan?

With the Standard Plan, you get access to a comprehensive Chore/Allowance management system for your entire family including parents, a family planner/scheduler to keep everyone organized, a family wall to keep everyone in sync, and a family circle to stay in touch with your extended family and friends. 

If you are new to chore management or new to using an app to manage your family, then you have all the tools to keep your family organized and connected.

Also, there is no limit on the number of kids, the number of devices that you can use to access your family account, and no limits on the number of chores or events that you are keeping track of. You also have access to S'moresUp Community where you can get help and support from other parents.

All these features are free and available as part of the Standard Plan.

What is part of the Premium Plan?

Let's be frank. Family management is not that simple. It takes a lot of reminding, nudging, and nagging to get things done. When we do so, we become the bad guys and bad gals. Even with an app like this sometimes it takes a little nudge to get things done.

What if there a way for you to not be the bad person? What if you could offload a lot of these mundane, unpleasant tasks to someone or something and they can follow it up on your behalf.

The features available as part of the Premium plan helps you with just that. The premium plan helps you automate your family management and provides insights and reporting into the operations of your home while continuing to maintain your data privacy.

  • Automatically rotate chores between family members
  • Compete and Collaborate chore types for gamification

Also, we constantly work towards making the app better and any new feature that will be developed will automatically be available to families on the premium plan. Some of the features that are in works include

  • Integrating with Home Assistants
  • Integrating with Google Classroom
  • Adding more than 2 adults/parents to a family
  • Web access to the app

Do I need to provide credit card information to test out the app?

No. You can download the app, create an account, and start using the app. We don't collect any credit card information or approval from you to charge you through iTunes when you are on your trial period. We will not charge you till you decide to pay for the service.

So what happens after my 45 days trial period?

As you get closer to the end of your trial period, you will be notified through the app and/or email about the end of your trial. 

At the end of the trial period, you will be given a choice to either subscribe to Premium Plan or move to Standard Plan. If you need additional time to evaluate the app, there is also an option to ask for an extension of the trial period.

If you have not made a selection, you will be reminded of the expiry of your trial period when you use the app. After a certain number of reminders, we will move the account to a Standard Plan. 

I might have used some Premium features during my trial period. What happens when I move to Standard Plan?

As you move to Standard Plan you will lose access to Premium features. Some of the features like Advanced Scheduling and Chore Types on chores may continue to work until you decide to edit these chores. 

 

Can I pay monthly? and what Payment methods?

When you subscribe, you are given a chance to subscribe either monthly or yearly.

When you subscribe to a monthly plan, you will be charged $4.99 USD (or equivalent) once a month. For yearly plan, you will be charged $49.99 USD (or equivalent) once a year.

You can pay through your iTunes account or using a credit card. At this time we do not take Google Play credits.

Do you offer family plan pricing? 

Not currently, but we’ll be considering it. We have families too, so it’s definitely on our mind. But for now, we only offer $4.99 USD/month and $49.99 USD/year.

I can't do a monthly or yearly payments. Is there an option for me to make a one-time payment and use the app?

Unfortunately not, we only offer $4.99 USD/month and $49.99 USD/year.

Can I cancel out of the Premium Plan anytime?

Yes, you have the option to cancel from the premium plan anytime. We will stop charging you in the future for using the service. You will be moved to a standard plan when you cancel the subscription.

As you move to Standard Plan you will lose access to Premium features. Some of the features like Advanced Scheduling and Chore Types on chores may continue to work until you decide to edit these chores. 

What happens when I delete my family and my account?

When you delete your account, all information that you provided for using the service gets removed from our server. We will not be able to retrieve the data that you provided. If you want to get back on the app, you will have to newly create an account.
